Jonathan is currently going into his 2nd year of the MSW program at DePaul University, Chicago. His primary areas of interests are in treating clients who are experiencing PTSD, substance abuse, mood, and anxiety. Providing clinical services to adults, couples, and adolescents in private practice and community-based organizations on Chicago’s south and west side. He presently serves as a Social Work intern at 360º Wellness & Coaching, BBF Family Services, and Sinai Community Institute. The three organizations are co-creating an internship program that will facilitate a hybrid of community mental health services and clinical social work. Jonathan will provide a combination of outreach services, community mental health, elder abuse and prevention, and clinical counseling services. Upon completion of his MSW, he will pursue his LCSW and hopes to move into private practice while maintaining his numerous partnerships with Chicago-based non-profits.
For the past six years, Jonathan has worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA, Graduate Assistant, and Program Coordinator at The Irwin W. Steans Center for Community-based Service Learning and Community Service Studies at DePaul University. At the center, Jonathan is responsible for locating health focused non-profits in the Chicago area to partner with Masters level nursing students for 2-year service-learning partnerships. In the Fall of 2012, Jonathan helped initiate the first departmental-wide service learning partnership with DePaul’s School of Nursing. He now places over 210 graduate nursing students in community-based organizations throughout Chicago over the course of an academic year. Primarily, these students engage in developing and implementing health, wellness, and nutrition curricula for organizations’ participants, staff, and parents.
